“Make Natural Health Products An Election Issue
On April 28th, Canada Is Facing The Most Important Federal Election In Its History
While popular talking points include: tariffs, taxes, and Trump, the threat to Canadians’ health rights has been completely overlooked. Health Canada and the Canadian government have repeatedly introduced legislation that will decimate the natural health industry, significantly reducing the quality and quantity of natural health products available to the 34 million Canadians who rely on them.
Health is the most important asset we have, why is it not receiving the attention it deserves? Safeguarding the natural health industry must be a primary issue on every party’s election platform.
We are calling on all political leaders to protect Canadians’ health rights by entrenching access to natural health products into their platforms. We must stop regulating natural health products like pharmaceutical drugs by putting an end to the Self-Care Framework and enacting the Charter of Health Freedom: https://nhppa.org/understanding-the-charter-of-health-freedom/
According to Shawn Buckley, “On the current regulatory trajectory, Canadians’ will have fewer and fewer natural options outside of pharmaceutical drugs to manage their health. The natural health products that remain will undoubtedly be priced out of many Canadians’ budgets as Health Canada is forcing companies to absorb exorbitant costs, which will then be passed down to consumers, if the manufacturers survive the changes at all.”
Health Canada claims that regulating natural health products like pharmaceutical drugs under its erroneously-named ‘Self-Care Framework’ will ensure the safety of Canadians, but without access to these products, Canadians’ health is at greater risk than ever.”
