Stop Ottawa from censoring online government accountability

Stop Ottawa from censoring online government accountability

The Trudeau government is pushing censorship legislation through Parliament.

Last week, the government shut down debate on its censorship bill and sent it to the heritage committee, which is the next step in the legislative process.

The government’s newest censorship bill, known as Bill C-11, would give government bureaucrats the power to influence what you say, see and hear online.

If the Trudeau government truly believes Bill C-11 is good legislation that Canadians will support, it would allow for full and open debate.

Instead, it’s trying to end debate. That should speak volumes.

The government is clearly trying to rush this bill through Parliament and hope Canadians like you aren’t watching.

But you can let them know that Canadians are watching. Bill C-11 represents a major threat to your rights and freedoms.

Twitter has compared the government’s broader censorship efforts to countries like North Korea and China.

Bill C-11 would give massive new powers to government bureaucrats to influence what you see on streaming platforms and on social media.

That means the government will have the power to deprioritize content it may not want you to see and push content that is favourable.

We can’t let Trudeau’s censorship bill to get through Parliament.

You have already taken a stand by signing our petition. Could you send it to five of your friends? We need to build an army of freedom-loving Canadians to stop this bill and you can help us do that. Thanks for standing up for taxpayers!

Stop Ottawa from censoring online government accountability

To Prime Minister Justin Trudeau: Canadians have the right to free speech on social media and online platforms. That right is vital to hold politicians accountable. Legal experts are warning legislation the federal government is proposing will allow bureaucrats to censor the internet. We, the undersigned, call on the federal government to oppose online censorship legislation.
